Prof. Dr. Vildan MEVSIM, Md, PhD


 
Professor Dr. Vildan Mevsim, MD, PhD, distinguishes herself as an esteemed Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey. Her academic credentials include a medical degree and a Doctorate in Public Health, obtained from Aegean University in 1998. Her academic ascent continued with her appointment as an Associate Professor in Family Medicine/General Practice in 2009. Dr. Mevsim's career is characterized by her significant involvement in a plethora of both national and international scholarly projects, serving in capacities as both project manager and principal researcher. Her doctoral thesis delved into the intricacies of tobacco addiction, and she has since spearheaded and continues to lead numerous initiatives focusing on lifestyle modifications. Particularly noteworthy is her involvement in technologically advanced projects addressing nutrition and smoking addiction, where she has assumed roles as project director and lead researcher. Presently, she holds the position of Director at the tobacco clinic within the Family Medicine Department at Dokuz Eylul University Hospital.

Dr. Mevsim's scholarly contributions are extensive, with her work featured in numerous esteemed national and international academic journals and symposia. She holds influential positions on the editorial boards of various scientific publications. Her expertise has been sought in prestigious programs such as Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, and Cost Action. Her professional affiliations are marked by her role as a board member of the Turkish Academy of Family Medicine, and memberships in the European Association for Quality and Patient Safety in General Practice/Family Medicine (EQUIP), the European General Practice Research Network (EGPRN), and the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA).

Her research interests are broad and deep, encompassing Clinical and Qualitative Research, Lifestyle Medicine, Addiction, Health Promotion, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Non-communicable Diseases, E-Medicine, Clinical Decision Support Systems, and Diagnostic Medicine, all of which underscore her commitment to advancing the field of Family Medicine.
