Professor Vera Simovska, born Jarevska is a Doctor of Medical Sciences (MD., PhD.)
with a speciality of Sports Medicine, and a subspecialty in Hygiene of Nutrition
and Medical Dietetics, Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia.
Dr Simovska was a Distinguished University Professor in the field of Hygiene of
Nutrition, Medical dietetics, and Food Quality and Safety at State University
“St. Clement of Ohrid” in Bitola and MIT University-Skopje. As a Founder-Director of graduate and postgraduate
study for Nutrition, she developed the first academic study program for
Nutrition in the Republic of Macedonia in 2011. Prior to that, Dr Simovska
was an Assistant Professor of Health Management at the University MIT-Skopje. From
2002 to 2014 she was a Lecturer of Sports Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine,
Department for the Specialization of Sports Medicine, at the University “Ss.
Cyril and Methodius”- Skopje.
Dr Simovska was employed as a physician-licensed subspecialist (MD., PhD) at
the Public Health Institutions-Skopje, establishing the first Nutrition
Research Unit (1980-2014).
From 2005, she
is the first President-Founder of the National organisation for the promotion
of health-enhancing physical activity HEPA Macedonia - a member of the WHO HEPA
Europe.
Dr Simovska was
a National coordinator of several programmes covered by the World Health
Organization and an Independent Expert - Evaluator of the European Commission
(2007-2022).
